New World Jack The Rippper

07 Nov

I wonder about serial killings in Africa. I don’t know if they are as commonplace as in the West (in terms of statistical data) but sometimes I feel that such crimes may even be more commonplace. Very often crimes committed against members of lower socio-economic classes are be under-reported, murders may often be grouped under ritual killings/sacrifice. The sad thing is that even when the media goes crazy over a case, it doesn’t take a lot of time before the frenzy dies down, the murderers remain at-large and everyone goes back to the rat race, only for the cycle to repeat itself. There is also the possibility that the police may be so occupied with other more important tasks (providing security to some politicians is a prime example) that such crimes as these take a back seat.

Enter Rwanda, where fifteen young women have been murdered in only three months in the capital city.Security measures are being taken and more guards are patrolling the streets with the aim of trying to prevent another murder. I’m glad at least that a pattern has been found and that young women in Kigali and environs are aware. I hope the perpetrator(s) of these violent crimes is caught soon caught soon. I certainly hope it doesn’t turn into another Charles Quansah, where a gentleman was convicted of murdering nine women even though he was implicated in as many as thirty-four deaths.

i agree with you, i happen to be from botswana and ever since i was young there have been rumors of children disappearing, headmen found without legs and all those crazy stories…, i cant prove the stories behind them or how people have been killed but for sure those people did vanish without a trace..,

really a shame that people get away with shit like this……

Let’s hope that the measures aren’t just window dressing and that the killers are caught soon.
